Plain-language summary: PastRush is an educational app with a large free tier and an optional one-time Founder Lifetime purchase. It stores your progress only on your device, writes every fact in its own words and links it to its source, and uses only original art and music. Survival content is general information, not a substitute for training or emergency services.
Every summary, viewpoint, quiz question and lesson in PastRush is written by us in plain language. We do not copy paragraphs from books, websites, museums or news articles. Facts, dates and events cannot be owned by anyone, but the way someone writes about them can, so we always rewrite and then link to where the fact comes from.
Where we mention what an old text says (for example a law code, a letter or a holy book), we describe it in our own words or quote only a few words from texts that are centuries old and in the public domain. We do not reproduce modern copyrighted translations of scripture.
All maps, era covers and illustrations were made for PastRush using an AI image tool under its commercial terms. They are illustrative, not photographs or archaeological reconstructions, and contain no logos or artwork copied from museums or other artists.
The PastRush soundtrack and sound effects were created for this app with a licensed AI audio tool under its commercial terms. No commercial songs or samples from other artists are used.
Coastlines, lakes and rivers on the era maps come from Natural Earth (naturalearthdata.com), which is in the public domain. Pip and Pip's look-alike cousins are original PastRush characters drawn for this app; they are not based on any other book or game character.
The ancient planets on the Time River are painted by PastRush from open scientific data, changed only in colour and shading: PaleoDEMs for 0–540 million years ago by C. R. Scotese and N. Wright (2018), PALEOMAP Project, doi:10.5281/zenodo.5460860; the PALEOMAP PaleoAtlas plate model for GPlates, doi:10.5281/zenodo.10596610; and continents for 560 million to 1.8 billion years ago from the plate model of X. Cao et al. (2024), doi:10.5281/zenodo.11536686. Reconstructions were computed with pyGPlates. Ice-sheet outlines for the last ice age are approximate. Planets older than 1.8 billion years are labelled artist's impressions, because no map of them can be reconstructed. Empire and kingdom borders (3400 BC to today) come from Cliopatria, Seshat Global History Databank (doi:10.5281/zenodo.13363121), simplified for display; historical borders were uncertain and contested, and showing them takes no position on present-day claims. All of these datasets are used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0).
EB Garamond, Instrument Sans and Marcellus SC are used under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. Interface icons come from Lucide (ISC License). Emoji are drawn by your device's own system font.
Names of people, places, organisations and events are used only to identify them factually. PastRush is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any museum, news agency, religious body, sports league or company that we mention or link to.
